September 11th, Cedar Rock State Park, Buchanan County.

A warm day greeted us at Cedar Rock as we explored this park for the first time in club history. We had a nice size crowd with many club members, along with some people that traveled from the other side of the state. Some got a ride to the house, then started walking back to the visitors center. Some of us started at the visitors center and walked toward the house. Here we are before the start of the foray.

The first fungi that we found was this nice Hericium.

There were lots of "log leaves" including False Turkey Tails, Purple Tooth, Trametes pubescens, and Turkey Tails like these:

Toward the end of the foray, a few of us stumbled upon an area loaded with mushrooms, including Russula olivacea, Russula crustosa, and these Milk Caps:

Saturday, October 9th, CLUB MEETING from 10:00am - 11:00 am, foray from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm, Kent Park, Johnson County, near Tiffin Iowa.

>Directions:
From Tiffin Iowa, go west 3.7 miles on Hwy 6. Turn right, park is on the north side of the road. We will meet at the Education Center located about 3 miles into the park on the right.

We will have our annual meeting before the foray, outside at the education center. We will NOT have a potluck lunch this year. All club members are encouraged to attend. All club members are eligible to be club officers, elected during the meeting.

This foray will be held in conjunction with the Iowa Master Naturalists program. Kent park has a wide range of habitats to explore, and has produced a good number of fungal species in the past, especially Boletes.
